Getting started
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes. When you sign up you pick your trade, and NOWWORX pre-fills a trade-specific starter — your knowledge base comes seeded with sensible defaults (certifications, typical call-out framing, out-of-hours behaviour) so you're never staring at a blank page. You just review and tweak. Your dedicated number is live straight away on the default path, so you can be taking enquiries the same day.
What do I need to sign up?
Just your business details — your trade, your working hours, the postcodes you cover, and how you want callers spoken to. You don't need to write anything from scratch: the per-trade starter library fills in the common answers and you edit from there.
Do I need any new hardware?
No. NOWWORX is a web app that installs to your phone's home screen like an app — there's nothing to buy and no app store to deal with. It works on the phone you already have, and it works on a laptop or tablet too. You read and reply to messages inside NOWWORX.
Your phone number
Will I get a new number, or keep my old one?
You choose. Path A (the default) gives you a brand-new dedicated UK number instantly — nothing to wait for. Path B ports your existing business number across so customers keep dialling and texting the number they already know; that takes 7–14 days and you sign a Letter of Authority to move it. We'll be honest with you about the trade-off: Path A is instant, Path B keeps your known number but takes a couple of weeks.
Can NOWWORX capture texts sent to my existing personal mobile?
No — and any service that promises this isn't being straight with you. UK mobile carriers do not offer SMS forwarding, so a text sent to your personal mobile physically cannot be mirrored into another system. That's why NOWWORX uses a dedicated number: it's a virtual number with no SIM card, so it won't show up in your phone's Messages app. You read and reply to every text inside the NOWWORX app instead. There is no workaround on the UK network — we'd rather tell you the truth than sell you a path that doesn't exist.
Does call forwarding work on my normal number?
Yes. Voice forwarding works on every UK number using your network's standard dial codes — it's completely separate from how texts are handled. So you can keep using your normal mobile for calls and have unanswered or after-hours calls flow into NOWWORX, where they're turned into transcribed messages you can act on.
How the AI works
Does it pretend to be me?
No. NOWWORX always speaks as your business — for example "Mike's Plumbing here" — never in the first person as you ("Hi, I'm Mike"). It also never claims to be a bot, an AI, or an automated assistant. It handles the back-and-forth in your business's voice and hands anything it shouldn't answer straight to you.
What does it ask customers?
It works towards four things: the customer's name, their address or postcode, what the job is, and how urgent it is. Once it has those, it tags the lead "Ready for you" so you can pick it up knowing the basics are already gathered. It keeps it short — never more than two questions in a message — and if a customer goes quiet on a key detail it stops and hands off to you rather than nagging.
Will it quote prices or book jobs?
No. NOWWORX never quotes a price unless you explicitly switch that on for your account, and it never confirms a date or availability — it always defers timing to you ("Mike will confirm a time"). It gathers the details and lines the job up; you stay in control of pricing and the diary.
What about emergencies?
Every work message is scored as routine, high or emergency. Routine enquiries send you a push notification; high-priority ones also text your personal phone if you've enabled that; emergencies push, text and place an automated call to you so you don't miss it. For gas or electrical hazard wording, the auto-reply also includes the National Gas Emergency line (0800 111 999).
What if a customer texts STOP?
If someone replies STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT, CANCEL, REMOVE, OPT OUT), all automation to that number stops immediately — no auto-replies, no follow-ups, no review requests. The conversation is kept so you still have the history, and you can still reply to them manually one-to-one. Automation only resumes if the customer re-engages.
Plans & billing
What do the plans cost?
Three plans, billed monthly: Sole Trader at £149/month for 1 user, Pro at £249/month for up to 5 users, and Premium at £399/month for up to 10 users. Pick the plan that fits the size of your team.
Can I cancel?
Yes — you can cancel anytime and manage your billing yourself. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. For anything beyond that, see our Terms.
Is my data safe and GDPR compliant?
Yes. Every business's data — contacts, messages, jobs, quotes and invoices — is strictly isolated from every other business's, so nothing is ever mixed across accounts. NOWWORX is built UK-first and GDPR compliant. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
